JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend with a brick and broomstick and fired shots at her.

Police responded to reports of shots fired Monday night around 7:45 in the 900 block of Spearing Street, according to a report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, 24-year-old Broderick Raynard Miller, is accused of hitting his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach with a broom and throwing a brick at her, hitting her in the head.

The couple started arguing inside a house on the 900 block of Spearing Street over another woman Miller is allegedly seeing.

During the alleged incident, the Miller fired one shot at the victim. No one was hit when this shot was fired.

The victim called 911 and Miller fled the area before police arrived on scene.
Miller's priors include cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing, resisting an officer without violence, gambling, loitering or prowling and possession of or selling a contraband substance 1000 feet from a church or religious building.
