JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two local businesses are teaming up to try and create a new public transportation system connecting Downtown and the Beaches -- and they are asking for the public's help.

Void and The Elbow have launched a crowdfunding project, dubbed 'The Connector', that will run through November 30 in order to raise the $100,000 needed to get the buses rolling.

If the project is successful, The Connector would leave from the Jacksonville Pier parking lotevery hour and drop riders off at Underbelly at The Elbow and vice versa.

Transportation would beavailable Friday and Saturday andwould run from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Each trip would be $5 one-way and $8 round trip.

"The Connector combines all the characteristics any community supporter would want in an initiative - it's eco-friendly, reliable, and cost effective," saidGrant Nielsen, Media Manager for The Elbow, a downtown entertainment website.
