COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A Lake City woman eluded arrest after she led police on a high speed chase in Lake City Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Alnesha Bruyan Fudge was allegedly speeding eastbound on SE Saint Johns Street and attempting to escape a Lake City Police Officer around 9:45 a.m.

According to FHP, the 2006 Chevrolet driven by Fudge struck a power pole guide wire near SE Lomond Avenue and continued eastbound.

Fudge then crossed Lomond Avenue and crashed through two fences and into the parking lot of Tabernacle Baptist Church, according to FHP.

The car finally came to rest after it crashed into a metal shed next to the parking lot.

Fudge, 26, then fled on foot and escaped arrest, according to FHP.

FHP's report did not state why officers were pursuing Fudge.
