JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man was shot on the Westside while talking to women on a sidewalk.

Officers responded to UF Health Jacksonville after a man showed up with a gunshot wound at 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to JSO, a witness said he and the victim were driving near the intersection of Plymouth Street and Lakeshore Boulevard when they stopped to talk to a couple of women at the corner store.

An unknown car drove past and someone inside that vehicle shot at the victim, striking the victim in the leg.

The victim drove himself to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment where officers met up with him a short time later.

An investigation is underway and spent shell casings were found in the roadway at the scene.

No suspects have been identified and no other witnesses have been found.
