JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who allegedly held a 4-year-old child and a woman against their will in a home in the 1400 block of Payne Avenue.

Around 3:39 p.m., police responded to the home after a day care worker dropped the child off there. After the door was opened, the day care worker saw the child being pulled inside by 29-year-old suspect Richard Lee Johnson and the child's mouth covered, according to JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.

Johnson initially forced his way into the home with a gun. He bolted from the home around 4:30 p.m. and was last seen in the area of Cleveland and Grothe streets. Police are currently searching the area with air and K-9 units and are asking for Johnson to turn himself in.

Bujeda said Johnson faces charges of armed burglary and a few charges of false imprisonment. An injunction for protection against Johnson has been filed by the child's mother.

Johnson's history of criminal charges dates back to 2004 and includes charges of domestic battery on a pregnant victim, trespassing, knowingly operating a vehicle with driver's license suspended, canceled or revoked and burglary - theft of $300 or greater.

Johnson is considered armed and dangerous, Bujeda said. Anyonewho has any information about Johnson's whereabouts is askedto contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.
