JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his girlfriend.

Thomas Howard Webster pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder. The 58-year-old man faces a possible life sentence.

Authorities say Webster stabbed 54-year-old Patricia Lynn Berner once in the back with a large kitchen knife at their home in April. Police say she had been planning to move in with her parents.

First Coast News' partner The Florida Times-Union reports that Webster waited for police at a convenience store, where he confessed to the killing.
