Senator Nelson's comment on today's shooting outside the Capitol:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the law enforcement officer injured in today's incident. It was a tragic but isolated event. It occurred right outside my Senate office, but thanks to the quick actions of the Capitol Police we were all kept safe inside."

Representative Corrine Brown's comment on Twitter said:

"Actively monitoring the shooing situation on #CapitolHill today. My staff and I are safe. Thoughts and prayers are with those affected."

Representative Brown's spokesman David Simon told First Coast News:

"Congresswoman Brown was on the floor of the House Chamber of the Capitol at the time of the incident. She's OK."

Representative Ander Crenshaw's comment on Twitter said:

"Grateful to the Capitol Hill Police and all our law enforcement for keeping us safe. Total professionalism and bravery."

Representative Ron DeSantis' spokeswoman Elizabeth Dillo reports:

"Earlier today, gunfire was reported on the Capitol complex. Congressman Ron DeSantis was under lockdown in the House of Representatives chamber. The Congressman and staff are safe and we want to extend our thanks to the Capitol Police for their quick response and offer our prayers to the injured. Best, Elizabeth"

Representative Ted Yoho spokesman Omar Raschid said:

"The Congressman was in a staff meeting when it happened. Immediately, afterwards he went to make sure the front door was locked and that the staff was okay. Thanks! Omar."
