WOODBINE, Ga. - A driver has been charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving and driving under the influence after allegedly killing his passenger in a crash Sunday night.

Richard Madria Ezzard, 24, was allegedly driving under the influence when the Honda Odyssey he was driving struck a tree at a high rate of speed, according to a release from the Camden County Sheriff's Office.

Ezzard's passenger, Salvatore Hauser, 21, was extracted from the vehicle and transported from the scene at the intersection of Charlie Smith Sr. Highway and Mush Bluff Road, but later died at UF Health Jacksonville.

The accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
