JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting on the Westside early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Niblick Drive in the Cedar Hills Estates area.

According Det. McClain with JSO, a man in his 20's was shot in the knee cap around 4 a.m. at an apartment complex.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment.

At this point in the investigation JSO does not have a suspect description. The victim allegedly described the shooter as, "an individual in the shadows."

The victim's girlfriend was inside an apartment when the shooting occurred and called 911.

JSO is still piecing together details of the incident.
