JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The start of the soccer season is just around the corner and the Mandarin Mustangs are looking to make a big run this year while being known as a hard worker on and off the soccer field, Kimberly Harris had no idea she would be First Coast Sports' Athlete of the Week.

"I was surprised" says senior Kimberly Harris, "I was not expecting that! I was just at home doing homework actually and I just wasn't expecting it; it's not anything I thought of."

But family and friends say the Mandarin senior has kick it into high gear this year, excelling in classroom while playing soccer year round. However, Harris not only balances the books, she worked two summer jobs.

Harris says it was tough not seeing her friends during the summer months, but she knew she was saving money for college while working the multiple jobs. The Mustang is adding one more item to that agenda; winning a championship this fall

The squad won districts for the first time in 2006 not they are trying to get past that and to move onto states. Harris will once again be setting her sights on even more goals in 2013.
