JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It is Labor day and there are many events taking place throughout the day.
According to First Coast News' partner the Florida Times-Union, the Jacksonville Zoo, the Museum of Science and History and the Maritime Museum will be open for Labor Day.
Residential solid-waste collection will operate as normal in Duval County, and also in most outlying areas according to the T-U. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority buses will operate on a normal Sunday schedule for Labor Day.
There are also some closures to observe the federal holiday.
The Jacksonville City Council Offices and most non-emergency Northeast Florida government offices are closed. The United States Post Offices are closed, but Express Mail will be delivered.
The Financial markets as well as most banks and credit unions will be closed.
The Duval, St. Johns, Baker,Nassau, Clay and Putnam counties' libraries will be closed Monday, according to the T-U.
Labor Day is also the final day the 33 outdoor city pools will be open, and the hours are 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.
