ALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- For the first time two of Florida's college football powerhouses are being featured on a Florida Lottery ticket.
The lottery recently launched a scratch-off game that features the logos of both the University of Florida and Florida State University.
Paying to use the team logos on tickets marks a step up from previous Florida Lottery promotions with state colleges.
Lottery Secretary Cynthia O'Connell called the new game an entertaining way to celebrate the rivalry between UF and FSU. She also noted lottery proceeds are used for college scholarships.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has a strong stance against gambling, but a spokeswoman referred questions to the two schools. A UF spokesman defended the arrangement by noting that it has had a lengthy relationship with the lottery.
