JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- For the first time ever, the city is having a National Night Out event at South Beach Park 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Several other National Night Out events are taking place throughout the First Coast on Tuesday night:

In Jacksonville, NAS Jacksonville is holding its event from six until nine at the outdoor pool and Allegheny softball field. Call (904) 778-9772 for more information.

In Baker County, the place to be is Memorial Park in Macclenny from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In Clay County, a National Night Out event is registered in Orange Park according to the organization's website, and the Sheriff's Office facebook page says one is happening, but no specific location is given. Call (904) 264-6512 for more information.

On Oct. 1, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will hold its National Night Out.

National Night Out intends to bring people together to build stronger neighborhoods by meeting police officers, having fun and promoting crime and drug prevention.


They are usually free to attend.
