JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert sprained his right ankle in practice, but the team believes he could return later this week.

Guard Uche Nwaneri stepped on Gabbert's ankle late in practice Monday, sending the third-year starter to the ground. Gabbert slammed his helmet against the grass in frustration and was helped off the field. Team trainers carted Gabbert to the locker room for tests.

The Jaguars have Tuesday off, so Gabbert has nearly two days of rehab to see whether he can practice Wednesday.

Bradley says the extra time "will be beneficial to him."

Bradley called it a "freak deal," adding that Gabbert "got up and walked off, so that's a good thing."

Two days after a rough practice, Gabbert completed 11 of 15 passes in 11-on-11 drills Monday.
