LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - Lake County law enforcement agencies have issued a statewide bulletin to see if a man arrested Saturday might be linked to crimes against children in other areas.

Groveland police arrested David Richard Kyle, 56, of Leesburg, after getting reports that a man was trying to pick up children at Lake David Park. Police said they saw Kyle return to the park.

Authorities later learned that Kyle had picked up a 9-year-old boy. They said Kyle drove the child back to his own house at 14 Conquistador St. in Leesburg. The boy was left in the car while Kyle went inside the house. Kyle then drove the boy to Groveland and let him out of the vehicle.

Kyle admitted to Groveland police that he has been considering kidnapping again, police said. He also admitted to picking up children on numerous occasions, taking them to his home and victimizing three children ages 9 to 12.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said Kyle has an arrest history for kidnapping, luring/enticing and other crimes in the 1970s and 1980s. Details of those incidents were not available on Sunday.

Kyle was in the Lake County Jail on Sunday charged with two counts of interfering with child custody, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of luring or enticing a child and one count of aggravated stalking.

Because of the circumstances, Groveland police teamed with the Lake County Sheriff's Office to help with the investigation, and other police agencies were notified. These two agencies ask anyone with information about Kyle or his contact with children to call GPD at 352-429-4166 or the LCSO 352-342-2101.
