POLK COUNTY, Fla. - The state attorney representing Polk County is calling the actions of a Lakeland police officer who instructed a woman to shake out her bra during a drug search "highly questionable."
In a letter sent to the Lakeland Police Department this week, State Attorney Jerry Hill also called the actions of Officer Dustin Fetz "ineffective and possibly dangerous."
Officials said Fetz asked Zoe Brugger to lift her shirt above her stomach, pull her bra away from her chest and shake it during a May 21 traffic stop.
Brugger said the experience was humiliating, but the officer didn't stop there.
"Then he told me that he was taking me to Bartow jail for driving on a suspended license and that they had an X-ray machine there and they were definitely going to find what I had hidden inside me there," said Brugger.
Hill says police didn't have reason to suspect she was carrying drugs. No drugs were found on Brugger, her boyfriend or in the car.
Brugger filed a complaint and notified the State Attorney's Office.
Fetz took four days off with pay, but is back on the job.
