GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Joseph Clark Thompson plead guilty to the November 2012 hotel murder of Andrew Stiekman, according to a State Attorney press release.
Thompson, 23, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday morning to the charges of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery and burglary of an occupied dwelling.
According to the release, Clay County Sheriff's Office police found Stiekman, 49, strangled to death in a motel room at the Rodeway Inn in Orange Park. The report said, the victim's cell phone, wallet and van was missing.
Text messages showed that Thompson and his co-defendant, John Burskager, planned the robbery and murder for weeks, the report detailed.
Burskager plead guilty to charges of murder in second degree, robbery, grand theft and grand automotive theft. The release said he is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
