JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man in his 20's was found shot in his sports car early Thursday morning.

Jacksonville Fire Rescue and homicide investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a home in theCoachman Meadows Community just before 1:00 a.m., where they found a man who had been shot several times in a white sports car.

The unidentified victim was found in his white Nissan 350z with temporary plates on Alden Road at the intersection of Coachman Lakes Drive andwas taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to JSOSgt. Coarsey on scene.

The victim was described by police as an Asian male in his 20's.

A friend of the unidentified victim told policethe victim had just left his house when he heard gunshots, Coarsey detailed. The victim allegedly called his friend and told him he had been shot.

At this point in the investigation, police do not know if the gunman was on foot or was in a car when the shooting took place. Investigators are also unsure as to how many suspects may have been involved.

Police believe the incident may have been drug related and are interviewing potential witnesses to the shooting.

An investigation is underway and more details are expected from JSO.
