NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. -- The City of Neptune Beach is in the running for a Main Street makeover provided by Benjamin Moore Paints.

The Main Street Matters campaign will select 20 small towns across the country that have been nominated by local residents to receive paint and supplies needed for facades, porches, railings, shutters and other exterior building trims.

Color experts from Benjamin Moore will consult on the best choices to enhance the architectural style, regional influence and historic references of each community.

"Our Main Streets are the vital hubs of our communities - and Benjamin Moore and our network of independent dealers have always been integral parts of Main Street," said David Melancon, Chief Marketing Officer of Benjamin Moore, in a release. "This investment we're making in communities around North America is core to our business and to who we are; Main Streets make us who we are and we're proud to honor that with this effort."

Benjamin Moore Paints has also partnered with Make It Right, a philanthropy founded by Brad Pitt, who will be lending his voice to support the Main Street Matters Campaign.

"We don't really know much about it, we don't know who nominated us, but to me it is an honor. It would be an honor to win," said Mayor Harriet Pruette. "It is nice we were nominated. I hear so many people say 'Oh Harriet, we love Neptune Beach, it is a great place,' and that makes you feel good that we have a great community, and people want to be here, and that is nice."

Patsy Bishop has owned Shorelines Gift Shop on first street for 29 years. She would love a new coat of paint on the front of her business to spruce things up.

"It would be great exposure for this cute little beach town. Everyone would come down and see what they were doing down here, and we should get out and vote and make it happen in Neptune Beach," Bishop said. "It would give us a little more pride, proud to know you were winners among the cities in the United States, that is pretty cool."
