St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - It may have been Memorial Day, but KellyJohnson's bat didn't take a holiday at Tropicana Field.
The Tampa Bay Rays jumped out to a sizeable lead before eventually prevailingagainst the Miami Marlins by a 10-6 score.
Johnson clubbed a pair of three-run homers as part of a 4-for-5 performanceon Monday afternoon. He provided the big blow during the Rays' six-run secondinning against Miami starter Jose Fernandez, but the Marlins rallied for threeruns in both the fourth and fifth frames to close the gap to 7-6. Johnson,however, iced the game with his second blast off A.J. Ramos in the eighth.
The Rays and Marlins played the first of four straight against one another.These in-state foes will play again at Tropicana Field before the CitrusSeries shifts to Marlins Park on Wednesday and Thursday.
