JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- TheCity of Jacksonville will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the nation byhostingthe AnnualMemorial Day Observance Ceremony on Monday.
The ceremony will take place at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Wall, 1145 East Adams Street. Thepre-ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the official ceremony starts at 9:00 a.m.
Keynote remarks will be by Mayor Alvin Brown and Navy Rear Admiral Sinclair Harris, followed by the presentation of wreaths. In addition, familyof two service members will be added to the Memorial Wall and they will deliver remarks.
The ceremony will include a 21-rifle salute, "Taps' and a flyover. The Jacksonville Pipes and Drums and the Navy Band Southeast will perform patriotic selections. Recording artist and Jacksonville native, Phil Stacey, will sing patriotic songs.
The observance ceremony is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the west lots of Everbank Stadium and near The Wall.
