PALATKA, Fla. - A Wednesday night police chase involving a suspect allegedly fishtailing and driving without his vehicle lights on ended with a DUI arrest.

On May 15 at 10:30 p.m., the Putnam County Sheriff's Office received information about an alleged reckless driver in the area of Silver Lake Road and State Road 20, according to a Facebook post by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

The driver was later identified as 28-year-old Kyle Edward Jacobs.

Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office allegedly spotted Jacobs' white Ford 350 traveling at a high rate of speed and when deputies attempted to pull the suspect over, Jacobs' allegedly turned off the lights on his vehicle in an attempt to evade law enforcement.

A chase ensued through several streets in which Jacobs is accused of driving at a high rate of speed and using a "fish tail style of driving," according to the PCSO post.

Jacobs finally stopped in the 130 block of Old Railroad Lane, where he was apprehended without incident, according to the PCSO post. When deputies made contact with Jacobs, they noted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage allegedly coming from Jacobs' breath, as well as noting Jacobs' slurred speech and watery, bloodshot eyes.

Jacobs was charged with resisting law enforcement, fleeing eluding law enforcement and driving under the influence.

Jacobs was held and later released from the Putnam County Jail on a $3,508 bond.
