ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A boat captain fell overboard near St. Augustine Inlet on Wednesday afternoon while sailing a catamaran.

Jeremy Robshaw, an official with St. Johns County Fire and Rescue, told First Coast News a distress call came from the captain requesting a tow.

While waiting for the tow company to arrive, the captain was attempting to tie up the boat's line when he fell overboard, Robshaw said.

The sea towing company was able to rescue the captain from the rough surf, but the rescue mission wasn't over -- the catamaran was sailing away unmanned.

On board was a 38-year-old woman, but she didn't know how to sail.

Rescue swimmers hopped on jet skis and took the captain back out to his boat.
