Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Billy Butler put the Kansas City Royals up in the first inning with a solo home run and Wade Davis, Bruce Chen and Kelvin Herrera took care of the rest, as the Kansas City Royals blanked the Minnesota Twins, 3-0, at Kauffman Stadium.
Davis (1-0) struck out six in five innings of work before giving way to Chen, who gave up just two hits in three innings. Herrera struck out the side for his second save of the season.
Jeff Francoeur also went yard for Kansas City, which remains unbeaten in three tries at home this season. Salvador Perez went 3-for-4 with a double.
Liam Hendricks (0-1) picked up the loss despite allowing just one run in five innings while striking out four.
Joe Mauer and Chris Parmelee had two hits apiece for Minnesota.
