JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to an aggravated battery in the 600 block of Woodbine Street Sunday night.

A man was shot in the torso, but Shands Jacksonville hospital staff told police the wound was non-life threatening.

Residents in the area told police they heard multiple gun shots fired around 9 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses also claimed to have heard a car, but police do not know if this was a drive-by shooting.

Right now detectives have no lead on a suspect or suspects, they are trying to communicate with the victim to get more information and interview more witnesses.

"We're still talking to witnesses, knocking on doors to get some leads to see if anybody saw or heard anything but at this time nothing has been revealed that we actually know there was a drive by shooting or that the shots were fired from a vehicle," said Sgt. Bobby Lyle with the Aggravated Battery Unit.

Anyone with information is asked to call First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
