Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross is one of five players that will begin the season on the disabled list.

Ross, who signed with the club as a free agent in the offseason, was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a left calf strain. The 32-year-old spent last season with the Boston Red Sox and batted .267 with 22 home runs and 81 RBI.

Additionally, infielder Willie Bloomquist (right intercostal strain), outfielder Adam Eaton (left elbow strain) and shortstop Didi Gregorius (right elbow strain) will begin the season on the 15-day DL.

Right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, was placed on the 60-day disabled list.

To finalize the 25-man roster, Arizona recalled outfielder Alfredo Marte from Triple-A Reno and optioned pitcher Randall Delgado to Reno.
