ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The city of St. Augustine is cracking down on street vendors -- again.
On Monday night, city commissioners will consider an ordinance that will prohibit vendors from selling in their latest location, near the Visitor Information Center by the parking garage.
The proposed ordinance states the vendors have created a threat to safety, health and welfare and the vendors have created a blight that does not match the city's ambiance around the visitor center.
The ordinance allows vendors to be on the north side of the parking garage but they have to have a permit.
The ordinance applies only to vendors selling things which are not protected by the freedom of speech, such as artwork which is protected.
