Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - United States midfielder Jermaine Jones will miss the team's World Cup qualifier against Mexico on Tuesday after sustaining a sprained ankle in a 1-0 win over Costa Rica on Friday.

Jones suffered the injury in the first half of Friday's game, and he needed two stitches at halftime before returning to action. He was taken out of the game in the 83rd minute.

The 31-year-old did not travel with the team to Mexico and no replacement will be added to the 23-man roster.
