Carlsbad, CA (Sports Network) - Beatriz Recari birdied the second playoff hole Sunday to beat I.K. Kim and win the Kia Classic.
Kim bogeyed the final hole of regulation to close a round of 1-under 71. Recari also bogeyed the 18th for a 2-over 74. They ended regulation at 9- under-par 279.
The duo returned to the 18th tee at Aviara Golf Club for the playoff. Both found the short grass off the tee. Recari pulled her second shot into the chipping area left of the green.
Kim did the same. After Recari played her third shot seven feet by the hole, Kim left her birdie effort nine feet short. Kim missed the putt left. With a chance to win, Recari missed her par chance right of the hole.
They both tapped in for bogey and headed back to the 18th tee for a second time. Kim and Recari both found the fairway off the tee again.
Recari's second flirted with the water right of the green, but ended on the fringe. Kim's approach stopped about 35 feet short of the hole. Kim missed her birdie try left of the cup.
Recari poured in her birdie try from off the green to earn her second LPGA Tour title.
