(NBC NEWS) -- Two people were hospitalized Saturday after the hot air balloon they were riding in crashed into power lines in Miami, police said. A third passenger was not injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, with the help of Miami-Dade police, Detective Roy Rutland said.

Police responded to calls at around 10 a.m. about the basket of the hot air balloon crashing into the power lines while airborne.

NBCMiami.com reports that the balloon's passenger basket struck power lines while airborne at Southwest 217th Avenue and Southwest 296th Street in Miami, according to police.

There were three people aboard the balloon, two injured passengers were taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center's trauma center.
