ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- According to The Maryland Department of Transportation, The Chesapeake Bay Bridge closed on Wednesday due to high winds.
According to officials, a tractor-trailer was nearing the end of the westbound span of the Bay Bridge when it turned on its side, and was found leaning on the guardrail.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but officials say high winds may have played a part as the bridge was in and out of wind restrictions all day.
According to the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, the truck has been righted and removed. The bridge will remain closed until wind conditions improve.
The Maryland Emergency Management Agency reported that the driver is out of the truck, and that there are no injuries.
