WAYNE COUNTY, GA (WSAV) -- Witnesses say a school bus and at least one other vehicle collided on OdumHighway in Wayne County Monday afternoon around 2:45. Early reports say 1person, not in the school bus, died from injuries from the crash. Officialsreport a total of 17 patients: 14 minors, 3 adults.

The students were traveling from Cedar Wood School in Wayne County, when thecrash happened on HIghway 341. Initial reports from the scene indicate thedriver may have hydroplaned into the bus.

The adults and a few of the children sitting in the front of the bus,received the most injuries according to the hospital CEO, Joseph Ierardi.

He says the injuries consist of mostly bumps, bruises and scrapes. Thechildren's injuries are not life threatening, Ieraidi says.

Wayne County School Superintendent Dr. Daryl Fineran, and other school boardmember were on hand to lend support to families. Fineran says they are saddenedto hear the driver of the truck has died but count their blessings that thestudents and adults on board are okay.
