JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man will serve life in prison for an armed robbery charge.

Vontae Alston, 24, was convicted on one count of Armed Robbery last year and was sentenced this week to life in prison for armed robbery that happened in 2012.

Alston and an unidentified co-defendant robbed a 20-year-old women outside a convenience store on Phillips Highway as she waited for her boyfriend in June 2012, according to a release from the State Attorney's Office.

Alston and the unidentified co-defendant threatened the woman with a gun and the two men demanded her money and then took off, the release said.
