JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- How would you like to save hundreds of dollars on auto insurance?
The Federal Trade Commission says you can if you follow these steps:
1. Buy auto insurance from a licensed, low-price insurer. Your state insurance department keeps a list of typical prices. Call at least four of the listed insurers who have the lowest price. Ask them what they would charge you for the same coverage.
2. Talk to your agent about raising your deductibles.
3. Be sure your new policy is effective before dropping the old policy.
