JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An early morning, single car crash closed parts of University Boulevard and knocked out power to hundreds Thursday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash on University Boulevard near Interstate 95 shortly around 2:40 a.m., according to a report from FHP.

Sydney E. Hixon, 23, crashed her car into a concrete utility, breaking the pole in half, the FHP report details, knocking out power to at least 200 customers.

Hixon was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred, FHP stated.

All Eastbound lanes and Westbound lanes of traffic were closed for more than three hours as crews worked to clear the scene. They have since been reopened.

Power was restored in the area by 8:15 a.m., according to the JEA outage map.

Hixon was transported to Shands Hospital of Jacksonville where she is listed in critical condition.

It's not yet clear if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
