MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Middleburg High School senior Gwen Blanchett carries a 4.5 GPA and is actively involved at school.

"I'm in AP classes and honors classes, and stuff about law for my major in college, and I'm in National Honors Society and FBLA," Gwen said.

However, school is only part of her day. Most of her time outside of the classroom is spent at Middleburg Martial Arts, where she teaches karate.

Gwen is a second-degree black belt and has been an instructor since she was just 15 years old. The owner of the studio, Jan Lappin, said Gwen serves as a role model for all of her students.

"[She's] driven, intelligent, kind, caring, a leader, very passionate about the things she does," Lappin said. "She's also very active in her Sunday school and she taught VBS, so she's just very well-rounded, a good girl! Just a good, all-American girl! A perfect example."

Gwen plans to attend the University of Florida and study Criminology.
