LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A CVS pharmacy technician has been arrested after police say she admitted to stealing 10,500 hydrocodone pills.

Tiffany L. Dandy, 22, was arrested Tuesday charged with larceny and retail theft for allegedly taking the narcotics while working at the CVS on SW Baya Drive.

Dandy has been employed by CVS since November 2010.

A loss prevention manager for CVS found through an internal investigation that the pills were being taken, according to a release from Lake City Police Department Public Information Officer Craig Strickland.

While being interviewed by police, Dandy admitted that she had begun stealing the pills in May 2012 and sold them to a friend. She said that she had stolen a total of 21 500-count hydrocodone pill bottles.

Before Dandy was arrested, four empty hydrocodone bottles were found in a trash can at CVS and $1,100 in cash was found on her person, Strickland said.

She is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
