JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The City of Jacksonville says it has reached an impasse with the International Association of Fire Fighters over recent pension negotiations.
In a statement released to First Coast News, Chief Deputy General Counsel Derrel Chatmon said the City sees this as the only option.

"While the City is declaring an impasse after only two meetings, we feel that we have no choice."
The City now requests a special magistrate take over the negotiations.
Randy Wyse with the Fire Fighters Union said the impasse is expected, but he is surprised how soon it has been declared.
Wyse said the two sides have not even discussed a couple proposals that are on the table.
