JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A jury sentenced a man Tuesday morning to life in prison for the 2006 murder of his wife.

Fifty-year-old Curtis Way was convicted last month on a second-degree murder charge for killing his wife, Linda Way, according to a news release from State Attorney Angela Corey's office.

The release said in 2006, Way strangled his wife in their Flechette Avenue home after an argument about finances.

Way held his wife down on the floor with his hands around her neck until she lost consciousness and died, the release said.

Way then went to a neighbor's home where he called 911.

The release said Way is a habitual felony offender. He has prior convictions for burglary, armed robbery and felony worthless checks.
