JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The state and the defense rested Thursday in the case of Taurice Brown, who is on trial for the murder of Analiza Gobaton, a mother of three who was killed by a stray bullet on Oct. 22, 2010.
Brown was arrested and charged Oct. 26, 2010 with murder in the first degree of Gobaton and attempted murder of the man he was in a drug-related altercation with.
On Wednesday, the court heard testimony from people said the bullet went through their homes.
The medical examiner gave testimony Thursday afternoon just before the state rested its case.
Following that action, the defense's motion to acquit all charges was denied.
A third defense witness, an investigator and former Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer, gave testimony of trees struck by bullets from where the shooting took place.
After the defense rested, there was no rebuttal by the state. The judge has estimated that the jury will deliberate between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
