TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is doing her part to encourage Floridians to adopt shelter dogs.
Bondi scooped up a shelter dog named Baker at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday and carried the surprised pup across the room to the laughs and applause of the crowd.
She made a beeline for Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater apparently because he looked like a good candidate to adopt Baker. Bondi offered a strong pitch, saying the puppy would make a great addition to the Atwater family.
Baker was at the state Capitol in recognition of "Adopt a Shelter Dog Month." On each Thursday this month, all shelter dogs over the age of six months are free.
Bondi asked people to consider adopting any shelter dog.
"These dogs desperately need homes and again the website is talgov.com/animals. So please, please go on the website and if you're interested in Baker he is a wonderful, wonderful puppy."
It looks as though Atwater is off the hook on adopting Baker. The puppy was adopted just hours after Bondi put him in the spotlight at the Capitol.
