Jim Klauder, a Vietnam war veteran, business owner, and middle-class, family man is running for the United States House of Representatives, 4th Congressional District seat.
He is married to Penka V. Klauder, and has four children.
He is currently vice president of Public Affairs and Development Foundation for Teaching Economics, headquartered in Davis, Calif., and has held this position since 1988.
Klauder received an degree in Economics from Princeton University, Princeton, N.J. and graduated cum laude.
He served for 3 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968 when he was honorably discharged.
Klauder worked as loan officer at Citibank in New York from 1968 to 1971. He worked in the commercial side of the bank, calling on large corporations and analyzing their credit worthiness.
After leaving Citibank, Klauder was elected twice and served 8 years as a county commissioner in San Juan County, Wa. from 1976 to 1984
He also owned Island Insurance Service in Eastsound, Wa. He founded and operated the insurance agency from 1972 to 1984.
Klauder member at Pacific Stock Exchange, a LLP, which performed a market-maker function on the floor of the exchange in San Francisco from 1985 to 1987. At Pacific Stock Exchange he was responsible for investment decisions and trading operations for the partnership.
