JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Drivers should watch out for increased police activity on the roadways in Atlantic Beach starting this week. Officers will be out in full force making sure you're buckled up.

The Atlantic Beach Police Department issued a release detailing their involvement in the statewide crackdown to make sure drivers are wearing their seat belts.

According to the NHTSA, Seat belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce crash fatalities.

Research has shown that when lap and shoulder belts are used properly, the risk of fatal injury to front seat passenger car occupants is reduced by 45 percent, and the risk of moderate to serious injury is reduced by 50 percent.

The click it or ticket campaign began Sunday, March 18th, and will run through March 31st.
