JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A chain reaction crash at Beach and Southside Boulevards has sent a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office deputy to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A vehicle was headed eastbound on Beach Boulevard when it rear-ended another vehicle stopped at a red light, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Sargent Donald Washington,
This triggered a chain reaction crash ultimately involving five cars total.
The drivers of the second and third vehicles, one of which was the officer, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Charges are pending against the driver that caused the initial crash, Washington said.
