JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police union members have approved a contract that the Fraternal Order of Police has been haggling with the city for more than two years.

Member voting ended today.

"With the final vote counted, our members resoundingly accepted the terms and conditions of this contract," said Nelson Cuba, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 5-30.

The three-year contract means a 3 percent pay reduction beginning Jan. 1,and a 5 percent member contribution to health insurance beginningJanuary 2012. The step-pay system remains the same.

Following the third day of voting, the totals were as follows:

Contract for fiscal years 2010 and 2011:
Corrections Supervisors, Yes - 75, No - 3
Corrections Rank and File, Yes - 372, No - 37

Contract for fiscal years 2012 through 2014
Corrections Supervisors: Yes - 72, No - 9
Corrections Rank and File: Yes - 30, No - 54

The step plan remains unchanged.
