He may not end up being penalized for the act, but Patriots quarterback Tom Brady apologized to Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed for a questionable foot-up slide against him in Sunday's AFC Championship game.

"I told him -- you know, we talked. We talked actually not too long ago, we talked on the phone," Reed told WJZ-FM in Baltimore. "He actually reached out to me, texted me. I tried to text him back, but the message exploded after 12 seconds, so I had to call him ... and he's just apologized and what not. But I told him, 'You know, it's good, man.' "

Fellow Ravens safety Bernard Pollard called for Brady to be fined for the play, one of a number of postgame salvos between players, spouses and fans of the two teams.

Reed praised Brady's play, calling him a "great competitor," which might be the nicest thing said between these two teams all week.
