JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens welcomed a new arrival on Sunday -- a Grevy's Zebra, which is an endangered species.

Zoo staff found mom Darasa with the female foal on exhibit when they arrived on Sunday morning, according to a release from the zoo.

Exams done by zoo staff show that the offspring is healthy, weighing in at 82 pounds.

This is the fifth foal born to Darasa and the second for dad Mosi, who will be kept in the holding yard while mother and foal have time to adjust.

The naming rights for the foal will be auctioned off as part of ExZOOberation, the zoo's annual fundraiser.
