The Georgia-Florida game is a huge rivalry, which means it gets a cool rivalry-game name.
Since the 1950s, the game has been known as "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party." A local reporter first gave it that name after seeing fans' drunkenly displays. However, the city and school's eventually began separating themselves with that name because of the alcoholic tomfoolery continuing every year in Jacksonville.
Well, it seems the brand Fanatics is attempting to impose a new name on everyone: "The River City Showdown."
The name has left many scratching their heads. What's the River City? Not Jacksonville. It also sounds pretty similar to Red River Showdown, the name for the Texas-Oklahoma rivalry.
Here's what people had to say on Twitter about the new name:
The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is not called the River City Showdown.— Barrett Sallee (@BarrettSallee) October 24, 2016

@LetsJett The "River City Showdown" sounds like fun. Too bad I can't attend, it's same day as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.— Bruce Frazier (@BFrazierUGA) October 24, 2016
