TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State's beleaguered football program is conceding a day to the school's basketball program.

Mired in a three-game losing streak, the once-ranked football team canceled its Tuesday player interviews. They said it was done in deference to coach Leonard Hamilton's preseason meeting with the media on his goals for the upcoming basketball season.

Hamilton also faces high expectations with a veteran team returning that reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament earlier this year before being eliminated by Virginia Commonwealth. It was Florida State's third straight NCAA tournament appearance.

The Seminoles finished 23-11 last year and are 70-31 over the past three seasons, trailing only Duke and North Carolina in Atlantic Coast Conference competition.

Florida State opens its season on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) when it hosts Jacksonville University.
