Valencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer posted a
6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov in Sunday's Valencia
Open final.
The world No. 5 Ferrer won his hometown tournament for the third time after
triumphs in 2008 and 2010. He was a runner-up in 2005.
Ferrer captured his sixth title this season. He also prevailed in Auckland,
Buenos Aires, Acapulco, Den Bosch and Bastad.
Dolgopolov appeared in his third final of the year. He secured the U.S. Open
tune-up in Washington, DC for his second career title.
